Francine Z. Stein, nee Horn, age 88, beloved wife of the late Herman; loving mother of Michael (the late Susan) and Eric; cherished grandmother of Harrison (Jinah), Phillip (Sabrina), Zachary, Emily and Gabrielle; devoted sister of Sanford Horn; dear aunt to four generations of nieces and nephews. Chapel service 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Weizmann Institute of Science (weizmann-usa.org) or the Jewish National Fund (jnf.org).

I have many memories of Fran. She was quite the lady. But, my favorite story was one my Mom (Shirley) often told about when she and Fran were young(Fran was 3). My Mom took Fran to the dime store to have a drink at the soda fountain counter. There was a fly on the counter and Fran said what is that and my Mom said it is a fly. And, Fran said well who does it belong to? She was so inquisitive, even then!!! She was so bright and always cheerful. I remember some very fun times that I had going to her home in Evanston and being with Michael and Eric. May she rest in peace and her name be for a blessing.
